Google Shaming?

I like to track everything I can.  I’m a big fan of having lots of data to sift through. As I’m sure many of you do, I track where my business comes from (i.e. how did customers find me).  I bring this up because twice recently I sent emails back and forth with customers, getting quick responses each time, and when I asked how they came to get my phone# (referral from a current client, Google search, LinkedIn, etc) I never received a response.  I don’t know for sure why but I have a suspicion.  I think some people are ashamed to say they Googled my type of service and I popped up.  Why be ashamed?  I spend lots of time working my Adwords campaign, SEO and my website and also soliciting Google reviews and LinkedIn endorsements from clients.  Years ago we weren’t ashamed to say we found you in the Yellow Pages.  Being on Page 1 of a Google search is not any different than having the biggest Yellow Page ad back in the day.  As a matter of fact, it’s WAY harder than having a Yellow Page ad.  Take pride in saying you found me on Google because I take pride in being there!
